M.S. IN EPIDEMIOLOGY AND BIOSTATISTICS
Program discontinued in Fall 2012 while we prepare a new M.S. program in Biostatistics and a new M.S. program in Epidemiology. Stay tuned.

This is a joint program between the Department of Statistics and the Department of Global and Community Health. It is designed for students wishing a more focused training in statistics applied to the health sciences.

Degree Requirements: All students must take 36 credits of approved coursework, including six core courses (STAT544, STAT 554, STAT 660, GCH 712, GCH 722, GCH 732) and six electives (two from Global and Community Health and two from Statistics) from a list of approve electives. The final six credits can be chosen in consultation with the advisor from either Department's courses or a six-credit research project can be completed.

Admission Requirements: A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a discipline related to health science or statistics with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Such fields include, but are not limited to, medicine, biology, nursing, health science, biostatistics, statistics, and mathematics. Courses in calculus at the undergraduate level through multivariable calculus, equivalent to MATH 113-114-213, and a calculus-based undergraduate probability course (e.g., STAT 346) with a grade of B or better are required for admission to the program.
